Title & Registration

Obtain an information package for "Special Built Vehicles" from the Vehicle Services Department of the Secretary of State.

Under the new law, kit cars and replica vehicles will be classified as "Special Built Vehicles" and assigned a certificate of title bearing the same model year designation as the production vehicle it most closely resembles.

Emissions Testing

Vehicles of a model year 1967 or before are exempt from the emissions testing program. This effectively makes most kit cars and hot rods exempt from the emissions testing program.
